1.      Submission of stay (Blue EU Card) of EU citizens

The EU students who want to stay longer than 3 months in Poland, need to register their stay in Dolnośląski Urząd Wojewódzki (Governor’s Office). The application must be submitted in person, not later than the next working day after expiry of 3 months’ period from the date of the foreigner's entry to the Republic of Poland. The International Relations Office can issue an original document in polish as a certificate that the foreign is currently a student at WroclawTech.

2.     Legalization of stay for non-EU citizens

“Schengenland” – what does this mean for students who come from non-European countries?

Since 2007 Poland is a part of Schengen Agreement, the agreement between European states that provides member countries with the benefit of free movement, as it eliminates systematic border controls between them. Citizens of Schengen countries can travel across participating nations without facing routine passport checks at internal borders. If your citizenship is from a non-Schengen Zone country, you are required to obtain a visa or have a valid permit card issued in the country from which you are applying for entry into the Schengen Area.

Students originating from non-EU countries, such as China, Ukraine, India, Pakistan, USA, Turkey, Nigeria, etc., are not authorized to travel freely across the borders of other EU member states without the requisite visas. It is important to recognize that while Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Romania are EU member states, they do not belong to the Schengen area. Therefore, to access a country within the Schengen area, one must adhere to the pertinent entry regulations and procedures.

Be aware that if you are currently in Poland and your visa/permit obtained in original country is approaching expiration, it is crucial to apply for a Temporary Residence Card (TRC card). If you entered Poland using a permit card that is nearing its expiration, it is recommended to renew it in the country where the permit was originally obtained.

Note that the procedure for obtaining the Temporary Residence Card can sometimes take rather long, even up to 8 months.
